V8 Stockcar Sebring Winter Heat Qualifying
#2
Posted 23 February 2009 - 09:25 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charles Wicht and Dave Machavern split the overall wins this weekend at Sebring. Machavern took saturday's race when Wicht broke a truck arm on his Monte Carlo at the start.
On Sunday, Wicht started from the pole, led into one and pulled away to a several second advantage on lap one. From there Machavern started reeling him back in at about a second a lap clip. Mac came up about one second short at the end.
Wicht's ex Harvick SWT racer was clocked by radar gun at 150 mph on the short straight on the club course side heading down to the hairpin. On the long back straight it is likely he topped 175 mph. Incredibly fast, cost effective race car.
Lee Arnold took both ends of the V8 SPO class in his ex Ken Schrader/Boris Said ride, and Mike Cope Racing's Jay Marshall got both wins in the V8GTA class.
In the V8 GT2 class for SCCA GT-2, STO, Koni Challenge cars etc. Doug Wilson took the win on both days in his quick BMW M3, Paul Gordon was second in his Koni Challenge Mustang.
