The 2 year belt rule, a lot of us don't like and even some of the people within SCCA, but the reason is that some people store their cars outside under tarps and the weather does affect them, Bill explained some of them are open wheel cars. (I would think people would give more concern for their safety).
SCCA would still consider me for a advisory committee once I get the car built, get more racing under my belt and I can reapply if a opening comes up (which is understandable).
Also on a good note, Tony Ave is on the GT Advisory Committee, congratulations Tony, having a GT1 guy is good, to give a full balance for the committee.
Still concern though with the economy and the added cost of regulations, less people may be racing, I also not going to worry about the differences on some of the rules between GT1 and TransAm, GT1 has been pretty open and will work to keep it that way, at least we don't have a right side driver's net that is mandatory, we don't have a 2 year rule on fire bottles, open on tires and fuel, (I still don't like the 103 db, wish it was around 108-109 like when first came out). I can go either way on the weights, but do agree with others, once SCCA listened to it's members and not change them, they should have stuck with it, instead of listening to one guy later on and change them, but maybe someone heard from TransAm teams and decided to change it for them to make it less troublesome to come race GT1.
So still have concerns, I still wonder how much "say" sponsors have, like the one with SCCA, my belief is that SCCA is a member organization, members should be listen to first before sponsors, but we know how the world works, money talks, also still concern with the lack of input from people and fighting for their club, I also just want to race and not raise hell, but by being a bystander, might mean we lose a part of the sport we all love. Well, pretty much it for posts from me, got to build the race car so I can be ready for 2013. Everyone have a safe racing season, the economy is going to hurt us, $5 a gallon for fuel, I haven't called to see what racing fuel costs now-a-days, I'm sure it's OUCH.
Just received this from Bill G. from CRB,

MEMBER ADVISORIES GENERAL
SFI recently issued a requirement of inspection and recertification every five (5) years of all SFI 38.1 HNR Devices. The GCR does not specify this requirement. Currently, SCCA is recommending, but not requiring, that SFI 38.1 HNR devices be inspected and recertified by the manufacturer every five (5) years as per the SFI requirement. Please also note that the SFI requirement does not apply to FIA 8858 HNR devices. SCCA will continue to monitor developments regarding the SFI-requirement.
